Game Analysis:
What a good day for the starting pitching. On the same day that Ruben Amaro said that J.A. Happ will not be taken out of the starting rotation, Cliff Lee makes his first home start as a Phillie and dominates the Rockies. So far, Lee has pitched 16 innings, allowed two runs and struck out 19. I'd say that's pretty damn impressive.
Aside from the pitching, it's great to see Jimmy Rollins hitting well again. His three hits today upped his season average to .245, and the way he's going, he'll catch Ryan Howard soon enough. After half a week of struggles, it looks like this team is starting to warm up again, and that is very good news for Phillies fans and bad news for opposing teams. You know it was a good game when Paul freaking Bako had a home run. That's all I've got right now, I'm just thrilled with the game today.
Tomorrow, Joe Blanton (7-5, 4.02 ERA) takes on Ricky Nolasco (7-7, 5.00 ERA) of the Marlins. The Phillies can put some serious ground between them and the rest of the NL East with a sweep this weekend, so let's see it happen! Go Phils!
