Boy, the Eagles are building some patchwork team for Sunday.

After last week's loss to Washington and Donovan McNabb, the Eagles have had just about a full seven days to digest everything and all of their injuries, and things are starting to come into focus now.

As almost everyone has expected, Michael Vick is out for the game against the San Francisco 49ers and Kevin Kolb is going to get the start at quarterback for the first time since the opening game against the Green Bay Packers. With this offensive line that the Eagles have, Kolb is going to have to fight for his life against the San Francisco pass rush. The 49ers might be 0-4, but they're still dangerous, and that's something that the Eagles are going to have to watch out for on Sunday night. This is not going to be an easy game to win.

There are even more injuries for this team right now. Asante Samuel is going to miss the game with a concussion, as is wide receiver Riley Cooper. When you throw in those two injuries with Moise Fokou starting now instead of Akeem Jordan and Juqua Parker coming in for Brandon Graham due to a high ankle sprain, the Eagles are looking more like the older team from last year than the younger team that they've been trying to build up throughout the season so far. That's three starters from last week on the defensive side of the ball that aren't going to be in there this week. Sure, San Francisco doesn't have the best offense in the world, but you still need to have someone out there to stop them, and the way things are going, I'm not sure that's possible.

One Eagle is going to be playing on Sunday, despite an injury. LeSean McCoy broke a rib against the Redskins last week, but he's going to be playing against the 49ers with his injury. The Eagles are going to have to feature him more this week than they did even last week, and that means he had better be ready to take a pounding. The 49ers have a hard hitting defense, and they won't take anything off of things because McCoy has a broken rib. In fact, they might hit him even harder.

One thing is for sure, this game against San Francisco is going to be much, much harder than the records of the Eagles and 49ers would make people think. The 49ers shouldn't be 0-4, and the Eagles are a hurting team with a 2-2 record. I'm worried about this game, and everyone else should be, too. You don't want to play the 49ers when they're up against the ropes with this many injuries on your team, you really don't.
