Phillies Recap: Pirates-1, Phillies-0

Game Recap:
Aaron Nola made his first start in a month, and pitched seven outstanding innings.  However, a hit batter in the bottom of the sixth gave Pittsburgh their only run of the game, and the Phillies could do nothing at the plate all day as they lost to the Pirates 1-0.

Phillies Recap: Nationals-6, Phillies-4

Phillies Recap: Mariners-10, Phillies-9

Game Recap:
The Phillies had leads of 4-0 and 9-5 during this game, but the Seattle Mariners were able to come back once against Jerad Eickhoff and another time against the Phillies bullpen to end up with a 10-9 win tonight.  This was honestly, the most frustrating loss of the season so far for the Phillies.

Game Recap:
Zach Eflin pitched seven innings of three run baseball yesterday, but Joaquin Benoit allowed a game tying home run in the bottom of the eighth inning, and a throwing error by Freddy Galvis in the 13th allowed the Cubs to finish things with a 5-4 victory.  The loss gave the Phillies a record of 1-6 on their seven game road trip.

Phillies Series Recap: Swept by the Dodgers

So, I didn't recap the last two games, but that's mainly because they started hours later than they do on the East coast.  With that being said, I'm going to recap the entire series against the Dodgers tonight, and most of it isn't very good.

Phillies Recap: Phillies-3, Marlins-2

Game Recap:
Jeremy Hellickson pitched six innings of one run baseball, and Brock Stassi's RBI triple in the sixth inning turned out to be the difference today in a 3-2 Phillies win.  That makes six straight wins for the Phillies, who also moved into sole possession of second place in the National League East.

With the game tied at one in the bottom of the eighth inning, the Phillies got back-to-back-to-back home runs from Cesar Hernandez, Aaron Altherr and Odubel Herrera to put them ahead 5-1.  Hector Neris struggled in the ninth inning, but managed to get Tyler Flowers to ground out to shortstop with the bases loaded to give the Phillies a sweep of the Braves, as well as their fourth win in a row.

Let's Get Back to Business

Let me start with this: it sure has been a while since I posted anything on here, hasn't it?  It's been just about five and a half years, to be precise.  In that time, I missed covering Charlie Manuel's last season as manager, the end of the Andy Reid era, ALL of Chip Kelly's time with the Eagles, the Flyers being the Flyers and the majority of "The Process," and that's just the majority of the rough patches.  Do I wish that I had written something about the end of Jimmy, Chase and Ryan's time with the Phillies?  Of course, but now I'm back to start writing about the next chapter in Phillies history.  The same thing goes with Carson Wentz, the soon to be impressive youth movement of the Flyers and the Sixers taking that next step in the 2017-18 season.

Of course, I would have continued to write on here if I felt like I could, but for a long, long while the fire for writing about anything was burned out inside me.  Without getting too personal here, that's pretty much how I felt about a lot of things.  I would just go through the motions, and I didn't have a lot of time for anything that I needed to put extra effort into.  That included writing on here.  I opened another blog and yes, I'm going to bring that back as well, but for now, the time is right for me to start posting on here again.  I'm ready, willing and able to get back into this and make sure that I bring you the same quality that I brought to you before.

With that being said, it feels good to be back, as brief as this post is going to be.  It's nice to get my feet wet again, and I'll be posting a Phillies recap after their game tonight.  Those are going to be a nightly event, and with the NFL Draft coming up next week, I'll have plenty of coverage on that as well.  I'll say this much right now: it feels good to be back.
